Quality Benchmark
Every manuscript passes through a minimum of three editorial passes before design begins. We reject a "good enough" standard — our benchmark is indistinguishable from traditional press output.
"The finished book looked like it came from a Big Five publisher." — Aoife Brennan, Cork
The Publishing Pipeline — How Your Book Moves Through Our System
Every project follows a transparent, stage-gated process. You'll know exactly where your manuscript stands at every point. No black boxes, no unexplained delays.
"I could track my book from raw manuscript to printed copies arriving at my door. That visibility changed everything." — Tomás Ó Briain, debut novelist, published March 2026
Below, you'll find the stage-by-stage pipeline we use for every commissioned project. Each gate has clear deliverables and author sign-off before we proceed.
Stage-Gated Pipeline
Gate 1 — Intake & Manuscript Assessment
We read your full manuscript (or proposal for non-fiction). Within 10 working days, you receive a written assessment covering structure, market positioning, and a recommended service path. No obligation to proceed.
Gate 2 — Developmental Editing
Deep structural work. For fiction: plot architecture, character arcs, pacing. For non-fiction: argument flow, chapter logic, reader engagement. You receive a marked manuscript plus a separate editorial letter.
Gate 3 — Author Revision Window
You revise based on our notes. We remain available for questions. This stage has no fixed deadline — take the time your book needs.
Gate 4 — Line & Copy Editing
Sentence-level refinement. Clarity, rhythm, grammar, consistency. We use a detailed style sheet tailored to your voice and genre conventions.
Gate 5 — Design & Typesetting
Cover concept development (3 directions), interior layout, font selection, chapter openers. You approve each element before we finalise.
Gate 6 — Proofread & Pre-Press
Final error sweep on typeset pages. We catch what everyone else missed. Print-ready PDF and EPUB/MOBI files generated.
Gate 7 — Distribution & Launch
ISBN registration, metadata optimisation, channel uploads, and launch coordination. Your book goes live across your chosen platforms.

Submit Your ManuscriptIs ProBookLoom Right for Your Project?
We work best with certain types of authors and projects. Use this fit-check to see if we're aligned.
You've finished a full draft
We don't ghostwrite. We take completed manuscripts (or detailed non-fiction proposals) and make them publication-ready.
You want editorial honesty
Our editors will tell you what isn't working. If you want validation only, we're not the right fit. If you want your book to be genuinely excellent, we are.
You value craft over speed
We don't rush. A typical full-service project takes 10–16 weeks. The result is a book that stands alongside traditionally published work.
You're publishing independently by choice
Many of our authors have had traditional offers but prefer creative control. We support that decision with professional-grade execution.
Not ideal: unfinished manuscripts
If your draft is less than 60% complete, consider our Author Coaching service first to build a solid foundation before entering the pipeline.
Not ideal: 48-hour turnarounds
We don't offer rush services. Quality editing and design require time. If your deadline is next week, we can't help — but we can plan your next project.
An Editorial Note on Book Quality
The self-publishing landscape is flooded with books that look self-published. Uneven margins, amateur covers, inconsistent formatting, unchecked typos. Readers notice. Reviewers notice. Bookshops notice.
At ProBookLoom, we exist to close that gap. Every book we produce is held to the same production standards as a title from a respected independent press. That means professional typesetting with correct leading, kerning, and orphan/widow control. It means covers designed by someone who understands genre conventions and retail display. It means editing that goes beyond grammar into the architecture of your story or argument.
We've been doing this work from Rodrigobury, Arkansas since 2019. Our team is small by design — three senior editors, two designers, one production coordinator. That means every project gets sustained, focused attention from people who care about books as objects and as experiences.
